September 2026
Surrey Honey Show awards 2026
6th September 2026. Both our Spring and Summer honey won awards at The Surrey Honey Show held at Denbies wine estate, Dorking. Our round honeycomb sections also impressed the judges with our two entries being awarded 1st and 2nd prize. The bees will be delighted when we tell them the good news!

Honeycomb
Honeycomb....We now have a limited amount of 8oz round section honeycomb, £12 each.

Bearding Bees
Thermoregulating the inside of a Beehive by 'Bearding'
During the current hot spell the bees need to create more space inside the hive to allow the 'Fanning Bees' to regulate the internal temperature. They create more space by clustering in large numbers on the outside wall of the hive. This is called BEARDING.

New Queens
A few of our colonies have raised new queen bees. We will mark each new queen so we can keep a record of her age.

Honey Price Update
Due to the rising cost of beekeeping equipment we have had to increase our price for honey by 50p per jar.

Winter Preparations
All our colonies are now set for the coming winter. The bees seldom fly during the cold months and only take cleansing flights on dry sunny days.
